A warm welcome is extended to all our returning players, families and coaches and also a special welcome to our new players and their families.
Singleton Junior Rugby has a long and proud history extending back to the 30th March 1968, when thanks to Sponsorship from Singleton Rugby Club, and the overwhelming support and enthusiasm from the Singleton public, Singleton Junior Rugby was formed under the guidance of President Ian Dunlop.
For the next 16 years, Singleton played in the Hunter Valley Junior Rugby Union Competition, which was formed in 1969 with the clubs first matches being a series of trial matches with Muswellbrook and Murrurundi Clubs on 22nd March 1969. Then in 1984, thanks to the work of our first Female Club President, Vivianne Merrick and her Committee, Singleton Junior Rugby was fully accepted into the Newcastle Junior Competition, now known as the Hunter Junior Rugby Union.
From those humble beginnings, and through the work of everyone associated with Club over the last 46 years our club has grown in stature, not just on the field but off it as well, and has become the envy of every other club in the competition.
We love to win, but it is not this that drives us forward. What we love more than anything is watching the enjoyment, and lifelong experiences, this great game of Rugby gives to everyone involved, from the players and their coaches, to the parents, supporters, sponsors and volunteers that are the lifeblood of this proud Club.
This year, we again have a number of quality coaches with vast amounts of experience, both as players and coaches. All have one common desire, a passion for the game. We wish for our players to benefit in their everyday lives from the experience of being part of a team. Rugby certainly provides for a lot of players, fitness, fun and importantly friendships that can endure for years to come.
Our facilities, as mentioned before, are the envy of all the clubs in the competition. With access to three grounds, our two “Official” Junior Home Grounds at Alan Bull Reserve, which provide plenty of training space, and our spiritual ground “God’s own Acre” Rugby Park, where throughout the year all our teams will get the chance to play on
